✈️ Thailand’s New Entry Rules for Aussies: What You Need to Know Before You Fly
Share
Planning a trip to Thailand soon? Whether you're flying business class for a luxury holiday or heading to Bangkok for work, there’s a big update you’ll want to know about.
From May 1, 2025, Thailand is going fully digital with its entry process—replacing the old-school paper arrivals card with a sleek new online version. This move puts Thailand in line with forward-thinking neighbours like Singapore and Malaysia, both of which have already modernised their immigration systems.
📲 Goodbye Paperwork, Hello Digital Arrival Card
Introducing the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) — the online form that every traveller entering Thailand will need to complete within 72 hours before arrival.
This includes:
Holidaymakers 🏖️
Business travellers 🧳
Aussies flying in for a quick stop or a long stay
You’ll no longer need the old TM6 form, and the good news? It’s completely free.
Simply head to tdac.immigration.go.th and fill out your details. Whether you’re flying solo or in a group, the form has options for everyone. Once complete, you’ll receive a QR code to show at immigration when you land.
🔒 Note: If you’re just transiting through Thailand and not clearing immigration, you’re off the hook—no digital arrival card needed.
🧠 Why This Matters for Business Class Travellers
When you’re jetting into Thailand in lie-flat comfort, the last thing you want is to fumble with paper forms on landing. This digital shift speeds up immigration, reduces errors, and streamlines your arrival — perfect for time-poor execs and savvy luxury travellers who value efficiency.
⚠️ What’s Coming Next? Thailand’s Proposed ETA & Tourism Levy
Thailand is also floating the idea of a new Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), expected to roll out soon. While it will remain free, the ETA will be required for visa-free visitors (yep, that includes Aussies).
Alongside it, the Thai Government is considering a 300 Baht (~A$14) tourism fee, aimed at funding tourism infrastructure and safety programs.
💡 Unlike multi-entry ETAs offered by countries like Canada and the US, Thailand’s version would likely be single-use per trip — so you’ll need to reapply for each visit.
🕐 Extended Visa-Free Stay = More Time in Paradise
Since July 2024, Aussie tourists and business travellers can stay in Thailand for up to 60 days without a visa — double the previous 30-day limit. Want to stay longer? You can extend that by another 30 days once you’re in the country.
