Malaysia Airlines Rolls Out New Business Class Suites on Australian Routes

Malaysia Airlines is stepping up its game, and Aussie travellers are in for a serious upgrade.

If you’re heading between Australia and Kuala Lumpur, you’ll soon have a chance to experience the airline’s brand-new Airbus A330neo — and with it, an impressive new business class suite that ticks every box for comfort, privacy, and style.

A Next-Level Business Class Experience

Gone are the older A330s that have been a regular feature between Australia and Malaysia. In their place comes the quieter, more efficient A330neo, bringing a fresh level of inflight luxury.

At the front of the plane, you'll find 28 private business class suites — each framed with high walls and sliding privacy doors.
Yes, doors! A must-have these days for any serious business class setup.

Flyers can look forward to:

  • Fully lie-flat beds

  • Extra personal storage space

  • Wireless charging for devices 📱

  • A crisp 17.3-inch 4K entertainment screen

  • Complimentary Wi-Fi to stay connected mid-air 🌍

Malaysia Airlines’ new business class brings a boutique hotel vibe to the skies, perfect for long-haul travellers who value both comfort and privacy.

Melbourne First, More to Come

The A330neo debuted on the Kuala Lumpur–Melbourne route in December 2024, and by the end of 2025, all three daily flights on this key route will feature the upgraded aircraft.

Melbourne Airport CEO, Lorie Argus, summed it up perfectly:
"It speaks to the importance of the Victorian market that Malaysia Airlines plans to use its newest aircraft, featuring the latest onboard product for its enhanced Melbourne services."

And it’s not stopping there — Auckland is next in line, with expanded A330neo flights already rolling out. While Sydney flights will see a frequency boost to triple daily by October, the new jet hasn’t hit that route yet — but watch this space.

What’s Ahead for Malaysia Airlines

Malaysia Airlines has committed to 20 Airbus A330neo aircraft by 2028, meaning many of the older A330s flying to and from Australia will soon be swapped for the newer, quieter, and far more comfortable model.

And in even bigger news?
Starting in 2026, Malaysia Airlines plans to retrofit the same business class suites into their flagship Airbus A350 fleet — so premium flyers can expect a consistently high-end experience across the board.
